PENCIL VS CAMERA

Ben Heine born in 1983 is Belgian photographer and artist. He is best known for his original series "Pencil Vs Camera", "Digital Circlism" and "Flesh and Acrylic.
The photos which impressed ме the most are in "Pencil Vs Camera". This project is totally groundbreaking and belongs to Heine’s creative mind and perspective. He mixes drawing with photography and imagination with reality. And most of the pictures are very funny!

The main idea of Ben is to interact with you - the observer. That's why his hand is almost always visible in the image - this represent the connection between viewer, artist and artwork.
The process behind the series is very simple but long. Ben draws a picture by hand and then takes the photo of the drawing at a specific location. In “Pencil Vs Camera”, Heine generally focuses on architecture, portraits and animals.

"Love, freedom and friendship are the main things I’m trying to express in my work. I just make art for people. I want them to dream and forget their daily troubles."

In 2010 the artist creates one more project - "Digital Circlism". He began making portraits of politicians and pop celebrities using only circles placed on a black background. Each round has its own color and size.
The latest draft of the artist, launched in 2011 is "Flesh and Acrylic". The idea is to combine in one person pose and background, both creations on them. The author says that this brings a new and different life of the living model.
