VISIONS OF ONE /NOT SO/ ORDINARY GIRL - GRIMES

Claire Boucher or Grimes (her stage name) is an complete artist in its full meaning. A Canadian-born, she is innovative music producer, singer and songwriter and a video director. In addition to all that she has drawn a series of detailed ink drawings which are mixture between surreal and manga art. And she is only 26!
Grimes drawings are living their own, mysterious and spiritual life. They are goth and maybe creepy at first look but the purpose isn't to scare you. Her art is a trip inside your deep desires, fears and wild fantasies. Boucher not only draws, she explores the secret corners of the subconscious.
Claire says that she draws mostly when she is sad or stressed. There is no specific theme but she likes the symbolic of skulls:
"It’s something that everyone recognizes — this idea of death no one understands but everyone is obsessed with."
One of her favorite drawings is the one she made for her third album Visions (also know as one of the best albums of 2012 year).
"The cover for Visions is probably the best piece of art I’ve made. I think it’s technically proficient, super intense, laid out well, and it has a lot of meaning. It seems so agonized. It’s hard to make emotionally impactful visual art and I think I achieved that with that piece."
It's not easy to describe Grimes style but you can't stay indifferent. Whether you choose to listen Claire's music, observe her drawings or enjoying her live performances you'll be amazed and thrilled by the visions in her work.
